Jauhari Documentation

Jauhari is a local-first research notebook. Write Markdown notes, keep an item registry with barcode or QR labels, and record measurements in datasets. Link these together so your written record, the objects it concerns, and its data stay connected.

Your vault stays in app-private storage on your device. Writing, scanning, charts, timers, and local imports and exports work offline. There is no Jauhari account or built-in cloud sync. Buying or restoring a subscription uses your app store. Saved or shared exports are copies outside the private vault; the destination or receiving app may use cloud or network services.

Getting started#

Open Jauhari to create your private vault automatically. The updated introduction appears once for new and existing users; finish or skip it, or replay it later from Profile. No account is needed.

The optional Home checklist and Profile → Guide offer six guided activities: practice Markdown, create a dataset, export Markdown, create a registry item, start a timer, and export a styled PDF. The first five are free; PDF requires active Pro. The PDF activity opens the existing subscription screen when needed; a trial depends on the store's offer and eligibility, and no purchase is automatic. You can leave an activity at any time.

The Markdown and PDF export activities create a normal sample note only when you start them; you can edit or delete it, and a deleted sample can be recreated. Markdown practice instead uses five separate exercises for bold, italic, bullets, numbered lists and links; it does not edit a note. Checklist progress is stored locally. Its menu can hide the Home checklist permanently; activities remain available in the Profile guide, and replaying the introduction does not reset progress or restore the checklist. Export activities complete after a successful save or a share reported successful by the operating system; cancelled or unknown share results do not count. A successful share does not guarantee delivery. This website is a reference guide, not an interactive app walkthrough.

On phones and in portrait, use the bottom bar for Home, Vault, Records, and Profile. The centre button opens New note and Scan barcode or QR code. Open Workflow from Home's Quick create area. On tablet-class landscape windows, a side rail includes Workflow directly.

For a first note, tap the centre button, choose New note, and enter a title and body. Use Read to view the result. Find it again in Vault or Home's recent notes.

The in-app Profile → Guide covers notes, Markdown, items, datasets, workflows, PDF export, and your files. Full guide online at the bottom of that section opens this guide: Jauhari first asks for confirmation, then opens your device's web browser. Viewing the page needs an internet connection. Jauhari passes only the guide's address, not your notes or records. Report a bug in the same screen works the same way: after you confirm, it opens a feedback form in your browser.

Core concepts#

  • Notes are Markdown text with a title, optional category, and links or embedded records.
  • Items identify things you want to find again: samples, equipment, books, companies, or other records. Each has a name, category, code/reference, and optional typed custom fields.
  • Datasets are tables of typed columns. Each row has its own reference.

An item or dataset embedded in a note is live: editing the underlying record updates its displayed information. You do not need to maintain a second copy in the note.

New item codes, dataset references, and hidden codes are checked across the registry so a new record cannot take another record's code. Older data may retain shared references created by earlier versions.

Your vault: where files live#

Notes are real .md files. Images are separate files; items, datasets, and relationships are stored in a local SQLite database. Profile → Storage shows the vault location and storage usage.

The vault stays in app-private storage. There is no Open folder as vault or Move vault action, and Jauhari does not request broad storage permission.

To move notes in or out:

  • Import Markdown files in Profile → Storage picks one or more .md files. Each becomes a new note; importing is not a sync or an update to an existing note.
  • Export notes (Markdown) selects notes and exports portable copies. You can also export a single note from its own screen.
  • Export entire vault creates a ZIP containing the vault's notes, attachments, and database.

Importing a .md file does not import its neighbouring attachment folder or turn another app's custom extensions into Jauhari records. Check image paths and unsupported Markdown after importing.

Notes#

Writing and reading#

Use Edit to write and change Markdown: the active block shows its Markdown source, while other blocks display their formatting. Use Read to view the rendered note. Notes save as you write and when you switch modes or leave. Tapping empty space in the editor places the cursor at the end.

The note renderer supports headings (# through ######), - bullet lists, checkboxes, callouts, Markdown tables, bold, italic, inline code, fenced code blocks, images, links, and Jauhari embeds. Ordinary line breaks remain visible. Numbered lists and ordinary blockquotes are preserved as text; they do not receive full Markdown styling. Indented bullet lists are not rendered as a nested outline.

Callouts highlight information. In Edit, choose Insert callout from Commands or the slash menu and select Abstract, Info, Tip, Warning or Quote. Alternatively, type > [!info] followed by an optional title, and begin each content line with >. Replace info with abstract, tip, warning or quote for the other types. Callouts are not collapsible.

Create a checkbox with Insert checkbox in Commands or the slash menu, or type - [ ] task; - [x] task is checked. Tap a checkbox in Read mode to change and save its state.

Links written as [text](url) are displayed in the note and collected in Refs. Read mode does not launch those URLs when tapped. Wikilinks to other notes are navigable.

Put code between fence lines of three backticks; an optional language name identifies the block. A fence labelled mermaid renders a Mermaid diagram in Read mode, using the bundled offline renderer. The insert commands also offer a Mermaid diagram. Invalid or unavailable diagrams show a message; the source remains in the note. PDF export attempts to include diagrams, but rendering can fail.

Automatic formatting#

  • Type * where new emphasis begins: after a space, line start, opening bracket or quote, and before a space, punctuation, or the end of the text. The editor inserts the closing * and puts the cursor between them. Typing * directly before or inside an existing word adds only that character.
  • Type a second opening asterisk to make **bold** instead. Type your text inside the pair.
  • At an automatically created closing asterisk, type * to move past it without adding a duplicate. For bold, move past both closing asterisks this way.
  • The generated characters stay in your note when you type spaces, change the cursor position, or add a line break. Delete them normally when you do not want them.
  • Backticks complete inline code delimiters; three opening backticks at the start of a line create a fenced block. Typing a backtick with text selected wraps it as inline code, or as a fenced block for multiple lines.
  • The editor also completes brackets, wikilinks, link parentheses and {{...}} tokens as you type.
  • In a - list, Enter adds the next bullet. In a numbered list such as 1. , Enter adds 2. , then 3. , retaining indentation.
  • Enter on an empty list item removes its marker and ends the list, like Obsidian. You can also delete a list marker yourself.

Assistance applies as you type, not while an input method is composing text. The editor's paste and undo/redo actions leave the text as entered; existing notes are not automatically converted. Escaped asterisks (\*) and code are left literal. Automatic list numbering does not add numbered-list styling to Read mode.

Categories and finding notes#

Tap a note's category badge to choose an existing category, type one, or clear it. A note without a category displays Note.

Vault search matches titles and tags, not full note bodies. Note cards show the category and up to three tags. Tags come from Markdown frontmatter; the app preserves them but does not provide a tag editor.

Open the note's overflow (three-dot) menu and choose Properties to add custom names and values, including text, numbers, dates, yes/no values, lists and groups. They are free and hidden from the note body. Imported YAML properties appear there when supported. Unsupported or invalid frontmatter is preserved, and the existing title and category controls remain read-only until it is explicitly discarded, even if it has a closing delimiter. Discarding it may remove metadata. If the closing delimiter is missing, the original text can instead be moved into the note body. Markdown exports and shares include all properties, so review them before sharing.

When the closing delimiter is missing, body editing and PDF export are unavailable until you move the preserved original text into the body.

Long-press a note card, or use its delete action, to delete with confirmation. There is no trash/undo-deletion screen, so export a copy first if needed.

Vault's List / Graph switch shows the whole link graph: notes are circles, linked items are squares, and note categories have colours with a legend. Pan and zoom to explore; tap a note to open it. Item squares are markers, not item-opening buttons.

Inside a note, the mode menu also offers Graph, showing that note's immediate neighbourhood with an action to open the full graph.

Below the body in Read/Edit, the related-record panel contains:

  • Items — records linked from the note.
  • Backlinks — notes that link to this note.
  • Refs — links/citations such as [Author, Year](url) collected for reference.

Linking and embedding#

Write thisResult in Jauhari
[[Note Title]]A link to that note and a backlink from it
{{item:Name-or-Code}}A live item chip
{{item:Dataset/REF}}A live chip for one dataset row
{{dataset:Name}}A dataset, initially shown as a table
{{chart:Name}}The same dataset, initially shown as a chart
![alt](attachments/photo.jpg)An image stored with the vault
[Author, Year](url)A displayed link and a References entry

Dataset/chart embeds and images belong on their own line; blank lines around them are not required. Item chips and wikilinks can be inline. Jauhari-specific item/dataset tokens are literal text in other editors unless you use the portable Markdown export.

Inserting without memorising syntax#

  • Type / at the start of a line or after whitespace for the filterable insert commands: Formatting, Inline code, Code block, Mermaid diagram, Callout, Checkbox, Item, Dataset, Image, Citation, and Chart and statistics.
  • Type [[ for note-title suggestions.
  • Pull down at the top of a note, or tap its palette icon, for the command palette.

Item and dataset pickers include New item and New dataset (table), so you can create and insert a record without leaving the note. The Chart insertion command is Pro; inserting a dataset and switching its view to a free Bar or Line chart remains free.

Reading embedded records#

Put an item or dataset-row chip on its own line, then tap it to expand its current fields; an expanded record can display typed image fields. Inline chips show the name and a key field but do not expand. Dataset-row chips refer to the row rather than creating another item.

A dataset embed has a local Table / Chart switch. The table previews the first five rows; tap a row to view/edit it. Open the dataset in Records for all rows. Wide tables scroll horizontally rather than squeezing cells together.

Each dataset embed remembers its own table/chart view, chart type, chosen axes, and value-label choice. When a chart preview is shown, tap it to open the full chart, adjust X/Y, inspect the data table, or export a PNG. Returning from that chart applies the selected configuration to that embed. If the embed shows a "no chart" message instead, the preview cannot be opened; open the dataset in Records to check its data and chart settings.

Items and labels#

Creating and editing items#

In Records → Items → New item, enter a name, optional category, and any custom fields. Field types are Text, Number, Date, Image, Link, and Choice. Choice fields have editable options, including an Add option… action when entering values.

The reference field suggests the next free value using your last prefix, such as JHR-000001. You can change it to an unused code. Custom-field and dataset-column names must be unique and no more than 40 characters.

Then choose:

  • Generate a new label for an object without an existing barcode.
  • Save item to register it without printing.
  • Scan an existing barcode to use an existing label.

Tap an item for its details; use View and edit item to change it. Long-press an item row for its available actions, including moving it into a dataset, generating a label, or deleting it.

References and hidden codes#

Assign new reference changes the primary reference and keeps the old code as a hidden code. The old physical label still finds the record when scanned. The item editor can add hidden codes by scanning and delete codes that are no longer needed. Dataset row editors also list and allow removal of their hidden codes.

If a code is already owned, Jauhari identifies the existing record rather than giving it to a new one.

Labels and scanning#

Generate printable label offers QR or Code 128 when the code can be encoded as a barcode, with code only or code + name. Reference-numbered items default to Code 128. Export a single PNG, or a three-column sheet with 1–48 copies. Labels are rendered at 300 DPI with a quiet-zone margin; printing is done with the exported image in your chosen app.

You can also label dataset rows, or export a sheet of the dataset's row labels.

From the centre create menu choose Scan barcode or QR code. Supported formats are QR, Data Matrix, Code 128, Code 39, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, and UPC-E.

  • A known item offers its record, Add to current note, and New note about this item. Add to current note targets the most recently edited note; check the title shown on the action.
  • A dataset row reference offers Edit in [dataset] and opens that row's editor.
  • An unknown code offers Register as a new item, carrying the scanned value into the form.

Scanning treats a code as text, not a link to open. Camera access is needed only for scanning; manual item entry works without it.

Moving an item into a dataset#

Use Add to dataset on an item or Add existing item on a dataset. Review the field-to-column mapping. This moves, rather than copies, the item: it leaves Items and becomes a dataset row.

The row keeps the item's code unless the dataset uses uniform references. With uniform references it takes the next reference and retains the old code as a hidden code, so its label still works. Existing item embeds are rewritten to refer to the new row.

Datasets#

Create a table from Records → Datasets → New dataset. Add named columns of type Text, Number, Date, Image, Link, or Choice. The automatic Reference column identifies each row and cannot be removed or retyped.

Turn on Repeated readings when you create a dataset to record the same measurements again and again, such as a plant's height each day. Choose what a reading is called (a name such as Day or Minute; the default is Reading) and the step between readings, so labels read Reading 1, 2, 3, or Day 1, 2, 3, or Minute 30, 60, 90, and name each thing you measure. Every measurement gets its own group of columns, one per reading, in an ordinary dataset. Scan a registered item, or open its row, and choose Add reading: pick which reading to enter, including a New reading, so you can add Day 2 on the same day; a new reading's columns are created for every row only when you save. Add reading on the dataset screen adds the next reading's columns to every row without scanning. Open Repeated readings on the dataset screen to change the name of each reading, the step and the measurements later: labels and column names update everywhere, a new measurement gets empty columns for every existing reading, and removing a measurement deletes its columns and values after you confirm. The chart section of the dataset opens in Readings mode: one chart per row and measurement, with the readings in order on the X axis (Day 1, Day 2, Day 3) and their values on the Y axis, as Bar or Line; Add chart shows more rows or measurements, and Columns gives the ordinary chart of any columns. Each row's detail also has one chart per measurement, and Copy note embed there copies a {{chart:Dataset/REF}} token you can paste into a note. A dataset holds at most 999 readings; a reading name can have up to 10 characters, a measurement name up to 16 and a measurement unit up to 12. Datasets made with the old separate repeated-readings page are converted to ordinary datasets the first time the updated app starts, and the old repeated-readings CSV format is no longer imported.

Uniform reference numbers, chosen at creation, gives rows a shared 1–10 uppercase-letter/digit prefix such as SMP-000001. This setting cannot be changed later. You can still edit an individual row's reference to an unused value.

Editing tables#

Tap a row to choose Edit or Delete; deletion asks for confirmation. Hold a referenced row to generate its label. A Link cell can hold a note link or external URL: a note opens in the app, while an external URL is copied to the clipboard rather than launched.

Use the column editor to add, rename, remove, or change column types and Choice options. Review deletion/type-change confirmations: values incompatible with a new type may be cleared. Tables scroll horizontally when they exceed the available width.

Add calculated column in the column editor creates a read-only Number column. Choose at least two saved, ordinary Number columns and an operation: Sum, Average/Mean, Minimum, Maximum, or Count. The result is calculated across the selected cells in each row, not down a whole column. Average and Mean are equivalent. Except for Count, an empty or invalid source leaves the result empty; Count counts valid numeric source cells. Results appear in table, chart, and export views. This is not a general formula language.

Rename a dataset from its detail title or by holding its card. Existing dataset/chart/row embed tokens are updated. If a note already open during the rename later shows an unresolved old token, reopen it and check the dataset name.

Charts#

Chart typeAvailabilityUse
BarFreeCompare row values
LineFreeFollow values across a selected X axis
ScatterProInspect individual X/Y points
TrendProShow points with a linear least-squares fit

Dataset detail and the full chart opened from a note provide X/Y selectors. Y needs a Number column; numeric/date X values use their scale in Line/Scatter/Trend, while text/Choice values use category positions. Bar charts display individual rows, including repeated labels; they do not automatically sum repeated categories.

Line and Trend charts order points by X value, not necessarily by table row order. Text and Choice categories appear in the order they first occur among plotted rows. Date-based Bar charts are ordered chronologically.

Missing/invalid selected values are excluded from the plot and counted in the chart summary. No valid values means there is no chart to display. Trend needs enough valid points with differing X values; categorical trend slopes follow category order, not a measured physical scale.

Tap or inspect points for values, or use the full chart's Table view for exact data. Bar Show values controls labels when the plot is small enough to display them. Chart PNG export preserves the selected chart type, axes, and value-label choice.

Statistics PRO#

Dataset detail shows Mean, SD, and n. The statistics currently use valid observations from the dataset's default Bar-chart model, not necessarily the Y column you have selected in the interactive chart. SD uses the population denominator, n. Blank or invalid values are excluded. Without Pro, the statistics controls are visible but blurred/locked.

CSV export and import#

Export as CSV is free. Export CSV + images additionally includes image files with portable references. Keep the files together after export.

New dataset from CSV is free. Pick a .csv, .tsv, or .txt file, choose whether it has a header, identify the reference column if present, and choose the name/type for each remaining column. Review the preview before importing.

Import CSV on an existing dataset is Pro. Map file columns to existing columns, new columns, or Ignore. Matching references update only mapped cells; unmatched rows are added; blank references are assigned automatically. Repeated references in the file use the first occurrence. References owned by another item, hidden code, or a different dataset are skipped and reported, except that an existing row can retain its legacy shared reference.

Check the added/updated/skipped preview and all warnings. Imports accept files up to 5 MiB and process at most 5,000 data rows and 60 columns; excess rows/columns are reported as truncated. Invalid numeric/date text can be retained as text and may not chart. Use year-month-day dates for imports: slash or dot dates such as 03/04/2026 are read as day/month/year (3 April 2026) unless the second number cannot be a month. Export a copy before merging a file into important data.

CSV exchange is manual, not live collaboration. Independently created copies can generate the same row reference, so coordinate reference prefixes before collecting new rows on multiple devices. Reimporting a matching reference updates that row rather than creating a separate visit/sample.

Deleting a dataset#

Hold its card and choose Delete table:

  • Convert rows to items restores rows to Items, including original item identities and hidden codes where available. Row embeds are rewritten to the restored items.
  • Delete table and its rows permanently removes the table and rows, including items previously moved into it.

Dataset/chart embeds of the deleted table retain their token text but stop resolving. Deleted-row embeds also stop resolving. Export important data before deleting.

Timers and the Workflow Planner#

Single timers#

Start a free timer from Home with a label and a duration of 1–1,440 minutes. Choose Alarm or Silent. Alarm requests the operating system's configured notification sound; if the device cannot schedule the sounding alert, Jauhari schedules it as a silent notification instead. Silent posts a notification without sound. Your choice is remembered.

Alerts are scheduled with the operating system so they can arrive while the app is closed or the device is locked. Allow notifications and check system notification/channel settings. If exact scheduling is unavailable, the app falls back to less precise scheduling; device restrictions can affect delivery. Do not rely on a phone alert as a safety-critical alarm.

Workflow Planner PRO#

A workflow saves a sequence of labelled steps, each lasting 1–1,440 minutes. A step's mode controls how it starts:

  • Starts automatically begins after the preceding step finishes.
  • Manual start waits for you to tap Continue.

The first step starts when you start the workflow, regardless of its mode. Each workflow remembers its alert choice, which you can override for a run.

Home's Running now card shows the current step and time remaining. Tap a waiting run to continue; hold it to stop. +N more expands additional active runs. Runs are saved across app restarts; automatic steps catch up on reopening, while manual-start steps wait for you.

Home#

Home gives you recent notes and datasets, Notes/Items/Datasets summaries, quick-create actions for Note, Dataset, Item, and Workflow, and access to single timers. Running timers/workflows appear here while active.

Tap a recent note to continue in Vault or a dataset to open it in Records. Content can scroll on smaller windows or when there are more records and active timers; there is no guarantee everything fits on one screen.

Exporting your work#

Every export first offers Save to device or Share:

  • Save to device uses your system folder picker. By default files go directly in the chosen folder. Enable Create a “Jauhari export” folder to group them in a new folder. Existing files are not overwritten; names are adjusted when needed.
  • Share opens the OS share sheet. One exported file is shared directly; several files are packed into one ZIP. Save or send the result from the receiving app. A Share action is not itself a permanent backup.

Portable note exports are snapshots: dataset/chart embeds become tables/images, and the optional CSV files capture the dataset at export time. Keep exported images and companion files beside the Markdown. These exports do not create live links back to Jauhari.

Formatted PDF PRO#

Choose Default view or Current view. Default renders {{dataset:...}} as a table and an ordinary {{chart:...}} as a Bar chart. A row chart {{chart:Dataset/REF}} draws that row's readings for one measurement (the first by default) in reading order. Current uses each note embed's selected table or chart view, chart type, measurement and axes, and includes expanded standalone item details as displayed.

Choose one of ten example styles, the properties to include, paper size (A4, A5 or US Letter) and portrait or landscape. A4 is the default; properties are excluded unless selected. The PDF includes the title, note content, tables/charts/images and collected References. Chart and element colors are adapted for a white page. Basic Markdown emphasis is flattened in PDF prose; the result is not a pixel-identical copy of the note screen.

Property boxes in a formatted PDF share one size, only the properties you select take up space, and the Created and Updated dates read dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm am/pm. Callouts print as one boxed block, and Markdown checkboxes (- [ ], - [x]) print as drawn check boxes.

Appearance, language and accessibility#

Choose a theme in Profile → Appearance:

  • Free: Studio Light, Studio Dark, HC Light, HC Dark.
  • Pro: Botanica Light, Neon Botanica, Meadow Gold, Ember Forge.

High-contrast themes remain free. Themes change the app's colour system, not just one accent. System appearance follows your device's light/dark preference.

Note text size in Profile offers Small, Default and Large PRO for the note body in Edit and Read modes. Without active Pro the default size is used; a saved choice returns when Pro becomes active again. This setting does not change the PDF layout.

The interface follows your device language, with English, Arabic, German, French, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese and an English fallback. Arabic uses right-to-left layout. There is no in-app language picker. A few newer controls, including the calculated-column dialog, currently show English labels in every language.

Phones, tablets and foldables#

Phones, portrait windows, and phone landscape use the bottom bar and a single-pane view. Tablet-class landscape windows use a navigation rail and side-by-side list/detail panes when space permits. Vault and Records have a control to hide/show their list pane.

Where a usable vertical hinge is reported, the split can align with it; the app falls back to its normal split if a pane would be too narrow. Folding or rotating preserves the selected record rather than intentionally closing it. Content widths are bounded for readability on wide screens.

In landscape, the note canvas has a subtle shadow, and embedded charts use less space beneath their labels.

Privacy and permissions#

Jauhari has no research-data server or account system, and it includes no advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting library. Its own research features make no network requests. Subscription transactions use the app store and its services; those services can process purchase/device information and billing diagnostics under their own policies. Exports you save or share leave Jauhari's private storage under your control.

This guide is a static website hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard connection information (such as IP address) to deliver it; its fonts load from Google Fonts. The page has no analytics, advertising, or tracking code and sets no cookies. It remembers your light/dark and language choices in your browser when local storage is available. Use the language menu to read the complete guide in any of the app's seven languages. When you open it from the app, Jauhari only hands the guide's address to your browser, with no extra permission. The Report a bug button does the same for a Google Form: anything you type there goes to Google and to the developer, not through Jauhari, which attaches no notes, data or device details. The full policy is at /privacy/.

AccessWhy it is used
CameraBarcode/QR scanning
NotificationsTimer/workflow alerts; requested when starting a timer
Exact-alarm schedulingMore precise timer alerts where allowed
Run at bootRe-register scheduled notifications after a restart
Selected files/foldersImport/export through the system picker; no broad storage permission

Android's package also includes Internet/network-state permissions from the billing library. They do not mean Jauhari uploads your notes. Sensitive research data is not automatically encrypted by an app-level vault password; protect the device and any exported files appropriately.

Jauhari Pro#

The free tier includes notes, linking/backlinks/graph, item and dataset embeds, scanning, labels, datasets, Bar/Line charts, chart PNG export, CSV export, creating a dataset from CSV, Markdown import/export, vault ZIP export, single timers, and four themes. There is no subscription-imposed note/item count limit; practical device capacity still applies.

A subscription unlocks:

  1. Workflow Planner — saved multi-step timers.
  2. Chart insertion command in the note editor. Free dataset insertion still offers Table/Chart views.
  3. Scatter, Trend, and dataset statistics.
  4. CSV merge import into an existing dataset.
  5. Formatted PDF export.
  6. Four additional themes.
  7. Note text size — Small and Large choices for the note body.

The reference price is US$1/month or RM5/month in Malaysia; check the store's displayed regional price and renewal terms before buying. Subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled. Use Restore purchases in Profile with the same store account if needed.

One-month free trial. On Android, eligible new subscribers can receive their first month free when Google Play makes the offer available. When offered, the button reads Start 1-month free trial — then (price) / month. Google Play determines eligibility, manages the trial, and shows the binding price, billing dates, and cancellation terms before you confirm. After the free month the subscription renews at the price shown by Google Play unless you cancel before the trial ends. Check the purchase confirmation for when access ends if you cancel. If no trial is offered, the button shows the regular subscription price. The trial is not managed by a Jauhari account or an in-app countdown.

Cancelling and expired subscriptions#

On Android, open Google Play → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Jauhari → Cancel subscription. Check Google Play for the date your access ends and whether a future payment is scheduled; uninstalling Jauhari does not cancel the subscription.

When the app recognises that Pro is no longer active, its controls lock again. Existing notes/items/datasets remain accessible, and free exports continue to work. Saved workflows are retained; premium embed chart types fall back to Bar, and a premium theme returns to the system palette. Formatted PDF and CSV merge remain visible as locked actions rather than removing your data.

Purchases are store-platform specific. There is no Jauhari account to transfer an Android subscription to iOS. This is not a promise of an iOS store release.

Note files can carry YAML frontmatter with title, category, tags, dates, and a preserved legacy type. Categories are edited in the app; tags can be prepared in a Markdown editor before import. Editing an exported copy does not update the private vault until you import it as a new note.

Common questions#

Why does an embed show plain token text? Check the dataset/item/note name and reference, whether the target still exists, and whether a dataset/chart/image token is on its own line. Create a link again with the insert picker if needed.

Why is my chart empty or missing points? Choose compatible X/Y columns and ensure rows contain valid numeric Y values and valid selected X values. Read the excluded-row count and any trend warning. If a chart embedded in a note cannot be shown, its preview does not open the full chart: open the dataset in Records instead, and use the table to inspect the underlying values.

Can I open my whole Obsidian vault? No folder-opening or sync feature is provided. Import individual .md files through Profile → Storage. Attachments and custom Markdown extensions may need separate attention; importing prose does not recreate Jauhari datasets or item records.

How do I take my work to a computer? Use portable Markdown export for notes and their supporting files, CSV for analysis data, PNG for charts/labels, or a vault ZIP to retain the underlying files. Then save or share the result. Jauhari does not export analysis projects or models for a particular statistics/modelling package.

Why did an import skip or overwrite rows? CSV merge identifies rows by reference, not by row position. Matching references update mapped cells; duplicate or conflicting references can be skipped. Check the preview before confirming and keep an export from before the merge.

Why did an alert not sound? Check notification permission, Alarm versus Silent, system channel sound/volume, and device power restrictions. An exact-alarm permission does not override muted notifications or guarantee safety-critical delivery.

What if export fails? Check free space and choose a folder your system picker can write to. Try another destination or Share. Keep the source data in the app until you have opened and checked the exported result.

Is there an automatic backup or cloud sync? No. Save regular exports outside the app/device. A private vault is not a backup, and uninstalling or clearing app data can remove it.
